11/05/10 Fit Tip
Stress is a complex and potentially dangerous phenomenon. Here are a few techniques to manage stress.
1. Check your breathing- make sure it’s deep abdominal breathing, and not short shallow chest breathing. When you relax you breathe more fully.
2. Exercise- a natural outlet for your body. The reduced muscle tension, discharge of pent up frustration, and increased feelings of well being are worth the battle.
3. Eat Well- watch the caffeine, processed foods, and high sodium. Go for foods rich in Omega three fatty acids, and don’t forget those fruits and veggies.
4. Self-Talk- it’s what we say to ourselves in situations that mainly determine our mood and our feelings. Get in tune with what’s going on in your head, and there will be a change in your heart.
5. Live ethically- stress is often generated from the fear of being found out. Purpose to begin making small changes to live a life of integrity.
Life is just too short…laugh hard!
